Instagram Best Practices from Social Media Marketing World 2020

This past week, our social media team attended Social Media Marketing World, a conference in San Diego, California. They were able to learn from social media pros who specialize in Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube and Pinterest. Traveling to this three day conference, they had one question in mind: where is the world of social media marketing heading in 2020?

With all of the social media platforms that are available in today’s world, it is hard to keep up with the latest trends, algorithms and content strategies that promise to achieve the best engagement. We are here to break down three Instagram tools that you should start using today to optimize your social media marketing strategy.

Build Trust on Instagram

Your brand is what your customers say about you, not how you portray yourself on social media. Session after session, our team was reminded that you must focus on your relationships with each individual user vs. increasing your followers.

Give your followers the reassurance that you are going to provide a solution to a problem they have rather than be perceived as “sales-y.”  Your followers will then begin to connect and trust your brand, and in turn, start recommending your service or company to people that they trust. Followers can then be attained organically.

Instagram Story Engagement

Over the three days spent at Social Media Marketing World, the team had the opportunity of listening to several speakers that have mastered Instagram Story marketing. They explained that Instagram Stories can be used as a free market research tool for your business.

It’s important to ask questions that allow users to interact. Tailor your content to what your audience wants to see. Keep these four questions in mind while creating an Instagram Story and your followers are guaranteed to engage while you gain insights into exactly what type of content your audience responds to best.

  1. What is the purpose of your story?
  2. How are you encouraging people to interact and watch the entire story?
  3. What is your call to action?
  4. How will you include your overall branding?

Is IGTV Important?

Moving into 2020, IGTV is a very powerful tool.

Social media is all about grabbing consumer’s attention and IGTV has that ability. Long-form discoverable content can finally be published to your Instagram feed, rather than sending users to another platform, such as YouTube.

The best part? You can finally put clickable links in your IGTV caption and keep users on your page even longer! Create content that your audience would like to share and keep it consistent.

Consistency=Trustworthiness

Our team is excited to bring back these takeaways and more from the social media experts and deliver best in class services to our clients.
